SANDOWN HISTORIC RACE RESULTS
A very pleasant weekend had presented itself for all to enjoy and we did. There were 18 starters of Group C variety only once again. John Harris with his 3 cars and Steve Vogt from QLD, Paul Stubbier from WA.,Binding ,Thew & Kell from NSW ,West from Amsterdam and the rest from Victoria
Qualifing on Saturday morning saw Mike West take pole with Lloyd Bax next to him ,on the second row was Binding in third and Voight in fourth ,next row Harris & Sawford ,then Farquarson & Butler ,follower by Kell ,Perrot & Cameron ,then came the under 2 litre cars headed by Workman ,Thew ,Wickett ,Holden & Chinner
RACE 1 6 LAPS
Lloyd Bax took the lead into turn one followed by West ,Voight ,Binding ,Harris closely followed by a gaggle of Torana’s and an array of small cars close behind .On lap 2 West and Binding were out with engine problems ,also Bob Holden and Adam Workman out with flat tyres .Final places were Bax ,Voight & Harris.
RACE 2 5 LAPS
Was led all the way by Bax with Voight close behind in the A9X and he was closely followed by Farquarson in that consistently fast Alfa .The small car class was hotly contested and finishing Holden ,Wickett ,Workman and Thew .
RACE 3 11 LAPS
Bax again took the early lead closely followed by Voight ,Sawford ,Voight & Butler with Binding coming thru from the rear .By lap two it was Bax and Binding dicing for the lead which would last for the rest of the race only to be interrupted for three laps behind the pace car .Once again the small car class was being battled out by Workman ,Holden ,Wickett & Thew finishing in that order while up the front the finishing order was Bax ,Binding & Voight .
The weekend was a huge success with Group C once again being the big winner .Many thanks to all those who traveled interstate and congratulations to all competitors for the way in which they presented their cars and their crews .Top job .
