G'day All, does anyone know where the 2nd 1984 Northern Territory sponsored Commodore is?
Jim Keogh had the two car team and Bernie Stack and I drove one of them in 84. One of the cars is now owned by Rob Roy Garage repainted into the 1980 05 colours. The other reportedly is in pieces somewhere?
Thanks - Wayne

this car has been chased quite hard over the last 5-6years up here in Darwin.
As a member of NAMSC (north australian motorsports club) i've been keen to find it my self.
Jake Kroonstiver owned a Grp C VH some 15yrs ago but it was not the car requested and his was sold to some one in Brisbane over ten years ago.
ive just placed a call to Jake to find out exactly what car he did have and any relitive up dates on the Darwin car.
keep posted

The "story" that one of the ex-Keogh cars was in Darwin came about because the ex-Ray Ellis Grp A VL was in Darwin and the theory was that this car was the ex-Ellis VK Grp A, ex-Keogh VK Grp A, ex-Keogh VH Grp C(NT/FoxFM) car. The Ellis Grp A VL was a new car so neither of the ex-Keogh NT cars went to Darwin.
An interesting aside is that one of the MHDT "promo" cars (#5), that was thought to be the 1980 Bathurst winner, did spend some time in the NT.

The car that was in darwin 10 odd years ago was a VK GrpA
built in brisbane by a misster Voite (or a name simular.sorry MR Voite)
He built 2 and the 1 that that was raced here in Darwin was the second car that ran at Lakeside and the 1st Indy.
Due to personal matters the cars were sold and 1 ended up here.
Conserquently he bought the car back some years later and Jake the NT owner belives its in a museum some were in QLD.
wish i new about it!

The car your talking about is the car built by Barry Wraith! I believe Steve Voight now has the car.
This Group A VK was built out of the ex-Barry Lawerence (ex-ReCar)that Ross Palmer purchased of Lawrence at Bathurst 1983 to lend to Andrerw (choke) Harris so Dick could take over the Harris (ex-Morris/Jones) Falcon to replace the crashed one!!!
Remember, Lawrence's VH had the Red (carmine) dash! (Only one)
Barry sold the body shell of the VH to Rosenberg, then went to Bartch, then ended up as Mick Hone's road reg Commodore and eventually the donor car for all the bits to put the "Watsons roof car" together for Champion. The (Lawrence ex-ReCar) shell then ended up with Van Wersch, (was OK last time I saw it). Now reshelled (why?), presented as the Stack/Jennings 1983 VH at MCM (a hot rod), pinged, it was never that car, and now presented in 1982 Re-Car colours, a livery it never was!!!!
Now where were we............................. Darwin, thats right!

DUDE!!!!!
wright a book thats awsome.
im with you, cars are what they are not what people want them to be.
id love a V series Commodore or X series Falcon of the GrpC era, a roller in any condition, but being a realist i know that id never be able to afford one (or find 1)yet i could build a mocky at a very high standard.
its the up front cost of the cars that kills ya,but it is a part of motor racing history isnt it.
great feed back though

G'day Rowan ,good to see you are still keeping a track of things. As you know the 1982 #05 / 1983 #25 car I owned is now with Peter Champion, but I was wonderingwhat happened to the two cars Jim Keogh had. One is apparently owned by "Rob Roy Garage" painted as an "05" from 1981 or 82 , but the other one is still a bit of a mystery. Anyway, I suppose it will turn up at some stage. Look forward to catching up at a track somewhere.
Regards
Wayne

Hi Wayne,
I thought I had the ex-MHDT Keogh VC/VH, that ended up as Keogh's VK Group A. I originally restored the car back to the 1980 Bathurst winner. CAMS have deemed that I actually have the ex-Benson Brown car, the car you ran with Bernie at Bathurst in 1984. This is now restored to its origins being the MHDT 1980 ATCC VB. I still own the car (giving it a run next weekend), it was at Rob Roy for a time when it was on the market.
I have tracked the other car (Keogh's original car) being sold to Mike Burgman (dec) in 1985. From there.....
Cheers, Rowan.
