Wondering if someone could help with rules. I had heard a year or so ago that CAMS were looking to stop the use of semi slicks as intermediate tyres for some racing classes. However, a search of the CAMS site did not turn up a bulletin. Is this still on the cards? Also any comment on semis vs slicks in short runs where you can't warm the tyres up such as hillclimbs and Leyburn/Speed on Tweed style sprints?

Hi John,
I have no knowledge of any rule changes by CAMS re semi slicks in other categories, but in those where they are the control tyre (like Improved production) there is no wet alternative.

With regard to their us in sprints and hillclimbs I would choose them over slicks every time.

Thanks Phil. The comment was not directed at the control categories, I actually heard it discussed in terms of Group C/A, noting that some some of the guys were using semis at the time as rain tyres. I have full wets etc for my cars, was actually looking at some RE55s for my Supra which are being sold off at half price on Evil Bay, $700 for a full set which is good value. I have used slicks in the past for Leyburn, Mt Cotton etc and always find the fronts aren't there for the first few corners. Will try the 55s.

Need some more Dolomites out there, 1 or 2 isn't enough noting they all still survive!
