This site has been a little boring lately, lets liven it up!!! :D

I was wondering what the associations stance was on creating a list of Croup C and Grp A cars in all categories & classes along with pics on this website. Cars that are up and running with valid recognition by the current owners and members of the association. Even the true cars that are tucked away as investments could get a look in to see the light of day (or PC screen light).

There are so many cars from this era that for some reason or another do not get to run at the same historic events and I for one would be interested to know just how many cars are still out there.

It would be ideal to see a register something like the members list to create a list of cars with just one picture so we can see if it is still alive.

If we can't do the cars it could be a 'Where are they now?' for the drivers and team owners that made these categories so great. Or we could do both.

There is so many stories of where these drivers are now, some are still actively involved in motor sport and most have dissappeared altogether, driving tractors on a farm to running small businesses and some even retired.

Keeping in mind the whole time that privacy of both car owners and drivers must be respected at all times and rules put in place to cover this off should be included. Any posts on behalf of someone must be sanctioned by that person.

Come on, Where are they all now?? Does anyone else agree............?
Muscle cars is only weeks away, I hope to see many of them there.

Regards,
Willofan

I would love to see a definitive register of Group C cars created. Group A might be little difficult, unless it was limited to cars that ran or resided in Australia.

Yes David,
You would have to cap it at only run in Australia as the Grp A's where dime a dozen overseas.

I know that 10/tenths have run this post for many years and quiet frankly is all about anyone or car that made a name for themslves during the period.

I wanna see as many cars and drivers get a look-in that are still out there regardless of how big or small, successful or not.

If the website could host and moderate the register to ensure you don't have mums commodore or 'ma-mates skyline bro'. It will need to be set up so you can the find the cars by way of year it ran, class or brand/model.

Lets get behind this and see if can make it happen. It would be good for the site and interest in the association.

Cheers, Willofan :)

i concur,
ive try hard to get members to put pics up, but for the select few you 'll find this to be hard...
i mean you google grp C and you get bugger all even the pics on this forum are only visable to members and i think this is piss poor...no dig at the builders and dudicators of this site but i'd like to see so many more pics of members cars,
i mean i dont even own a grp C car but ive got pics up of my cc cup car.

SHARE the love guys

I know this is an old thread but it does seem appropriate,

over the week end i was watching a rental DVD titled ATCC 1989 - 1993
and saw the number of Sierra running around.
Some of the fields ( particularly 1989) were massive Not just sierras

Some of the Sierra;
DJR Sierra=Johnson, Bowe
Caltes Sierra= Bond, Matthews
B&H sierra = Longhurst, Jone
Mobil Sierra, Brock , B Jones
Miedeke Sierra= Miedeke, Bagnall
ANZ= Hansforsd ( i think this is racing now?)
Murray Carter Sierra
Seton Sierra
Francevic Sierra

and there plenty of Commodores as well
Grice, finnigan, kay, lambden, perkins, Ashby,Lusty, forbes, Rogers, callaghan, Mulvihill and others.

My question is were are those cars???

Several of the Commodores will have become early V8 Supercars. Rendering them worthless!

But I like the idea of the register. I have some photos from those days - must get organised and put them up here. One day, one day...

Great idea, have been thinking the same for years, the old bathurst books tell what happened in the day, with which car went where, or converted to what, but where are they now ? Id really like to know where the VK Kmart group C Commodore ended up ?

[QUOTE=? Id really like to know where the VK Kmart group C Commodore ended up ?[/QUOTE]

it belongs to Richard Johns in Sydney. I last drove it in 2004 or 2005. Great car. Check out the 2005 Muscle Car Masters footage to see it running in the Group A/C race. Hope that helps?
