Will be sold to the suitable applicant who will ensure ongoing representation of this piece of Australian Motor Racing History and commit to supporting the Historic Group C Association events where possible.

Great piece of history there. Is that the "In Car Camera" mobile?

Great piece of history there. Is that the "In Car Camera" mobile?
Hi Chris,
No, the car you are thinking of is the 1979 Yellow Celica Peter ran at Bathurst with the first in-car camera for Channel 7 and this car was then sold in 1980 to Graeme Bailey who ran it as the Chickadee Celica that is now owned & run by Beach Thomas.
This car for sale is the 1977,78 car which was made famous when Peter told the crew to put an axe into the boot lid to refuel it due to being damaged in the rear by none other than 'Dick (use the celica as brakes to slow me down) Johnson' in his over size/weight Falcon 2dr sled.
To add to the history, this car will be featured in the next Top Gear mag, Autosport and Muscle Car Master DVD all this month with a focus on Peter Williamson's 30th anniversary of the camera.
Any takers out there wanting in? This is your chance at an affordable price and easy on the pocket to run.
Cheers, Willofan.

Shouldn't that be a "TA23" not a 'RA23" model designation?

It's an RA23 with 2 litre 18rg series GT engine. The TA23 was a 1.6 litre based 2T series engine.

Hi folks, newby here...:).
I was wondering if Willofan would be kind enough to help me out for some info/specs regarding the Grp C Celica's (or anyone else for that matter..:)).
I am a member of a team of guys over at NoGrip (http://www.nogripracing.com/index.php?) which is a site dedicated to us mad 'race-simmers' out there.
One of our current projects is the TA/GA22/3 Celica. Any information regarding holmogolation specs for the Celica would be much appreciated, weights, gear/final-drive ratios (or gearbox type), engine hp/torque etc (both 2.0L & 1.6L if possible). We are building the car from scratch and I'm the 'physics' man.
[EDIT]...below is a pic of our WIP.
Many thanks in advance,
Bruce

Hi Crocko,
I was only advertising the car on behalf of the then owner as listed in the first post on this thread.
You might wish to contact him on the email retrowheels@optusnet.com.au to see if he has the information you are after.
Please note, he has sold the car and all the information went with it.
Rgds, Willofan
PS: Maybe the CAMS office in Melbourne can help you with the FAI Homologation documents from Japan when the cars were raced all over the world in this period.
see their website: www.cams.com.au for contact details
