Hi Guys,

Run by the HRCC of QLD, sanctioned by the AASA. Timing is a bit odd , but still gonna' be a heap of fun!

I hope to see you all there.

Cheers, Chris.

PS They are pretty darn serious about the 95DBA limit at Lakeside, so please be aware.

I hear that cars in several categories that hadn't been pinged at other tracks got pinged there last year, lomng way to go to get pinged and stopped from racing!!

Lakeside doesn't use the same standard as other tracks. The CAMS standard is 95dBA at a 30 metre drive by. The standard at Lakeside seems to vary from meeting to meeting and it appears to be measured at far less than 30 metres. Lakeside management offer prospective Lakeside competitors the chance to have their car measured while competing at QR, which isn't noise limited, but i guess this isn't much help to interstate competitors......

I have heard Sandown are touchy on noise problems too, so perhaps having 2 exhaust systems might make sense? Lakeside is a cracking racetrack with history dripping off every apex, well worth the few mods needed.

I agree, you need two exhausts, a Lakeside exhaust and an everywhere else exhaust. It's worth it. :)

Agree about the timing. And it's only 2 weeks before the FOSC Bathurst event. Already committed to that so looks like Lakeside might be a no go :(

I'm still desperately scrambling to be ready for Bathurst, so there's no way i'll be ready for Lakeside. :(

How does that fit with keeping the car original? Surely a different exhaust would be against the rules?

Chris who thought of this date it is the same weekend as Phillip Island and just before Bathurst, I woulld be surprised if you gat any cars from down south to enter.

Hi Rod,

I have heard 3rd hand that it was a valid date/idea for classes that were not invited to PI? A couple get bumped every year it seems? It certainly is a bit odd.

Remember to keep early August (7-8th?) free for the Classic Speed Fest.

S/Bangers, As a bolt on, bolt off type of mod', I think exhaust legality isn't too high an issue? Most of our original Gp C cars (HDT A9X, Greens Tuf etc) are under the DBA imit too if you're curious.

If anyone is genuinely concerned about exceeding the 95DBA limit, please feel free to call me to discuss. 0438 269938

Dear Invitee,

It gives me great pleasure to advise that Lakeside Park is now getting into its public and competitive activities for 2010. You may be aware that Lakeside featured on all the major news services and in the papers after the new Bentley Super Sports and the new Chevrolet Camaro were released at Lakeside Park over the past few weeks. It would appear that the business strategy of getting the car manufacturers to support Lakeside Park as their place of preference for the release of new vehicles is working. We currently have five other major new model releases scheduled for Lakeside Park in 2010.

Of immediate interest is the first of our Classic Race meetings which will be held over the weekend of 20 & 21st of March to celebrate 49 years since the first meeting was held there. Current indications are that we will have more than 120 historic and classic cars coming to compete and another 250 or so will be on display during the weekend. We are also expecting to have some famous drivers from yesteryear there to renew their attachment with the cars they once drove in championship races.

As you may be aware approximately 4500 people attended the last meeting of this type that we held for these vehicles in October 2009. To make the meeting even more attractive we will have a "warbirds" fly over at lunchtime on Sunday with some formation flying and aerobatic manoeuvres to thrill the crowds even more.

This event is another step along the path to delivering the Lakeside Park 50th Birthday Celebration events in 2011. We are confident that the Golden Anniversary celebrations will bring thousands of local and hundreds of overseas visitors to financially benefit the region. At some stage Council should discuss with us how it can best take advantage of our initiatives.

Naturally you will be welcome on both days but we would especially like to invite you to come along on the Sunday to the newly renovated VIP facility in the Lakeside Park Function Centre to join us from 11 AM for lunch, and potentially, a few laps on the track as a driver or passenger.

To assist us with the catering, and to receive your final information package, it would be appreciated if you could RSVP to the writer via an e-mail to John@Qldraceways.com.au.

Yours sincerely,

John Tetley
