Is there a list of probable Group C & A entrants for this meeting?

In the General Supplementary Regulations for this meeting, section 19 refers to "Grids".
It states that all grids for the weekend shall be based on Saturday qualifying, excluding Group N, S, Formula Ford & PRB, which shall be progressive.
Is there a reason why Group C&A are not running under progressive grids?
Although it will not affect my decision to enter, I would be interested to know why the races are run this way?
Thanks

If you ever find out I would to know seeing that the HSRCA wrote to the association after the Oran Park stuff up and said all furure Group A &C races woulde be progressive Grids.

Hi Guys,
I would like to go to Eastern Creek because I think is one of the best Race Tracks around and also one of NSW's premier Historic Events. So we should all support it, otherwise we will all be traveling interstate to have a little fun with our cars.
As far as the race format, I am sure if requested the race secretary Noel Bryen would be more than willing to accomadate our wishes. Lets give it a go and put on a good show in Sydney.
Come on VIC's come up and have some fun!
So who is entered? I already have.

I have now been advised by HSRCA that they WILL run progressive grids for Group C&A cars on 1st May meeting.
So far there are only 7 entries and they need 15 minimum. Come on you guys....lets put on a decent showing here! They have over 200 entries in total so it sounds like being a great day of racing. Surely we can find another 8 entries?
It would be a real shame to see this championship round cancelled from lack of entries!

I have a completed entry form on my desk, not yet submitted.
I am keen to participate, but had heard this round was going to be cancelled.
Can we get formal clarification?

Apparently HSRCA have 7 Group C&A entries so far. I am told that there are at least 5 other Group C&A members with entries ready to be sent but they are being held back because it seems unlikely that we will get the required minimum 15 entries to form a grid. From a personal perspective I am really disappointed because you would think that we could get at least 15 cars to enter a championship race in Sydney!

Next race meeting will be the the HRCC Historics in July at Morgan Park in QLD.

I can't believe that we don't have sufficient numbers to form a race in Sydney.Do all the Sydney members prefer to go interstate to race ?I was so looking forward to our local event particularly the least costly event so far this year.Very disappointed

Precisely my feelings as well! How can the Association "officially cancel members' involvement"? Who makes those decisions and why?
I know some members have spent their budget at PI and Bathurst while other's cars aren't ready, but surely we can find 15 cars to run in Sydney!!
So who is prepared to run? Let's start a list:
Tony Pallas
Carey McMahon
please add your name to the list.
I don't want to wait to 24 July to have a run in the car. I didn't buy it to look at in the garage.

Generally the promoter or organiser of the event. Most will have requirements for minimum grid numbers, and in this case there were a number of factors (some of which were outside of the control of the Association) which meant at the end of the day that minimum requirement wasn't able to be met. It serves no purpose to either the promoter or the Association to see a handful of cars circulating so there was no option but to cancel Group C/A participation at this event. :(
On the flip side, Morgan Park looks like it will be a record field this year. Entry forms will be on the website as soon as they are available from the HRCC. Let's get them in early this time ;)

Hi Nev,
I don't want to extend this discussion more than needs be but I am surprised by the total lack of promotion of this event relative to how much the PI and Bathurst events were promoted on this forum. It seems like there was only ever luke warm interest in this event.

I understand where you're coming from but don't forget that "promotion" for any event can take place on many levels, not just on this forum and not just by the Association.

I talked with Bill Campbell at Bathurst - their aim is to have the new section ready for the Shannon's National Motor Racing Championships on the 14/15th August, so we'll just miss out. Looks awesome though and will give them 11 possible track combinations.

Perhaps a way forward could be to:
a) Confirm the race meets for the balance of the year
(My calendar suggests: HRCC Morgan Park 24-25 July, Lakeside Classic 7-8 August, Muscle Car Masters 4-5 Sept, VHRR Sandown 6-7 November and a question mark against the Tasman Revival, EC 27-28 November)
b) Seek individuals from within Group C & A ranks who would be prepared to act as "Entrant Coordinators" - for these events
c) Obtain or develop a contacts database of owners of Group C & A race cars from the Association or previous race meets
d) The Event Coordinators could then canvass the database for interest, faciliate the issuing of entry forms, and coordinate their lodgement through a central point of contact.
Some friendly competition could be introduced along the lines of Holden Vs Ford or Aus vs Euro or, C vs A, or State of Origin in targets for entry numbers.

Great suggestions, Fast Eddie!
I think our lack of support for this HSRCA event is pretty poor and may jeopardise invitations to future HSRCA events. We surely don't want to be in a situation where the only Eastern Creek event we can run in each year is Muscle Car Masters, do we?
As a Sydney resident, EC is far more economical to attend than travelling interstate.

Surely for variety's sake we'd be more interested in supporting a Wakefield Park meeting instead of another one at ECR?
