i am looking for photos or info for a mazda rx7. driven by David Cox at adelaide atcc may 1984 , finished ninth, surfers atcc july 1984,DNF and endurance round at surfers nov 1984.DNF the car number was 19, yellow lower section with white top, sponsored by Berklee Exhaust. Not to be confused with another car same colours and sponsor driven by chris Clearihan. A contact for David Cox would be helpful and Even a program for a meeting would assist. The car was previously owned by David Grose from Queensland and before that was built and owned by the late Ken Hastings in Melbourne.

Where was the car built John and have you tried contacting Chris Clearihan?

thanks chris for your reply, i have spoken to chris clearihan several times and the car he raced was an ex peter mcleod car, the car i have was originally built by Ken hastings in melbourne. Chris Clearihan recalls the car and that there were two rx7's painted the same colours and same sponsors, my car was raced in the ATCC during 83/84 by a David Cox, who i have been unable to find. I see that you are going to bring the Tokico car to Morgan Park, I hope to see you there, i am entering for that event as well, should be a nice drive up from tassie for the event. regards John Douglas

Hopefully I will see you at MP. It's a great little circuit! Did Chris know Cox? What state was he from (Vic?), where did he work? Would he have known Carter or any other Vic RX7 racers?

Chris did recall him, and he said he was involved in real estate from around queensland. David Cox owned the rx7 with david grose during this period, according to CAMS documents. I have googled david cox and was surprised how many there are. David Grose and his dad Ron drove the car in bathurst 1983, however only completed 3 laps. The best recorded result was a ninth at adelaide 84, and after speaking with Peter Mcleod he recalls that there was a lot of good intention put into the car for very few results, on most races that i have researched a DNF is recorded.( hope that is not a jinx.) looking forward to MP, what diff ratio would you suggest ??

looking forward to MP, what diff ratio would you suggest ??

Morgan Park is one of the shortest and tightest tracks in Australia. In my Group N Torana, top speed is les than 180 km/h. For rotary diff ratios, I recommend asking the guys in Improved Production at www.ipraforum.com.au

thanks david for your suggestion, i also run a xu1 in group N , what diff do you run in the torana at morgan park, if it is as tight as baskerville where i run a 3.55:1 i will know what will suit the mazda rx7.

I run a 3.55 in the torana and almost the entire lap is in 2nd & 3rd gear.

How you going with the research John? Need more help? David was in property in the 80's I can ask him if you're stuck? Cheers, Chris.

Here's a shot?

David had never heard of Mr Cox, but he met Ron Grose back in the day and said he was in property http://www.truelocal.com.au/business/david-grose-real-estate/runaway-bay

I hope he's your man.
