Hi all,

My names David an I love my Group C's

Lucky for me I'm old enough to remember watching a full day's coverage of the Great Race on Channel 7 and my earliest recolections start around the True Blue and Greens tuff era.. Why don't they have marching girls and batton twirlers parade down the pit straight at bathurst any more???

Now I'm not cashed up but would love the opportunity to get my hands on a Group C car one day. but until then what are the alternatives? (like the king george replica or the true blue on my105.com)
Been kicking around the idea of building / buying a replica but is there a big racing scene for these cars (what's the category)
OR getting my hands on a 1995-2005ish V8 supercar. again is there a series for these cars?

Looking forward for some feedback from you group C experts..

Old V8 Supercars do have a place to race already in the V8 Touring Car National Series which is part of the Shannons Nationals.

The only CAMS category that is open to Group C replicas is sports sedan. AASA have run what you brung classes where you can show up with anything that is safe and sound and they will put you in a class.

Bear in mind, buy/build cost is only half the picture in racing. The running costs are just as important and the running costs of a Group C replica should be the same as a genuine car. The running costs of an old V8SC should be considerably higer.

Thanks for the info guys...

I appretite that the running cost, maintenance and general upkeep will be the largest consideration with any vehicle.

After trolling the web, I'm just tossing up the idea of purchasing something like the King George replica or the True Blue replica OR going for something like an genuine AU. (I like the condition of the DJR 18 car)
And like every other bloke I wish I had the Cash for a genuine Group C..

Thanks again for the info

Redesp, think of it this way only poor quality wine should come in 5 litres...

Try the irace series as well for other alternatives to racing in a CAMS Series
