Hi All,
Wonder if anyone can help, just machined the brake discs on my Capri, looked ok before I started but after I finished the had very fine crazed cracks on surface, lookes from heat. Does any body know if this is normal or are they for the bin or boat anchor! Also have some new Dunlop crossply's put them on the rims pumped them up and a crack in rubber appeared around on the side wall, are these had it to.

Hi Carl,
Carl here how are you.....
drake discs do heat fatigue on our Commodore cup car the rotors crack compleatly threw on occasions.
i run mine when cracked but when they open up i ditch them.
if you cant grab them with a finger nail and your on a skinny budget you'll be right other wise grab your wallet and dig deep.
i ran a capri with a 4.0ltr V6 in it with XF Falcon disc brakes up front as a lap sprinter.
They were a Castelmain rod shop conversion but Hoppers Stoppers in Melb have an awesome up-grade kit for all capris & Cortinas using late modle rotors and calipers.

Hi Carl,
We need to use older historic disc's and rotors on Group C cars mine are AP lockheed calipers and its all to fit in a 13 inch wheel, so the new upgrades are no good!

I recently bought new AP calipers and rotors for my Group A Corolla from Nicholas Bates
at Competiton Friction in Canberra, he is the Australian AP agent. He was super helpful, but be warned, new genuine stuff isn't cheap! OTOH, i now know that I've got the right stuff, so performance, safety and eligibility are all OK.

true just a refrence for any and all to the possibilitys of up grades.
i look at it this way.
i'll never own a genuine Group C racer so i'm building my mocky's so i can cheat abit.
thay'll only ever see lap sprints and open track days but thay'll look fat and all that.:o
