:)You heard it hear first folks. Group C and A are going to be invited back to run at the newly re-vitalised Lakeside Raceway in Sunny QLD. Come and thaw out up here on the third weekend of September (19/20th). Will keep the info' coming as I get it. We might be dusting off quite a few DJR cars and maybe a DJ himself for this one!! :D

Cheers, Chris.

I last raced at Lakeside in 93 at the round of the touring car championship and apart from that meeting I have fond memories of lakeside. If it is a go count me in Chris.

Regards Frank.:D

That's fantastic news Chris - please let us know when you have something concrete.

I hear the resurfacing of the track is just awesome. That will be one not to miss for sure.

Come on Chris, you being at school in '93 is a bit optimistic isn't it?

Chris Bowden

Nope, I graduated in 1993. I have a heap of childhood/teenage shots of myself at Lakeside, drooling over the various bits of Group C/A machinery! I'm guessing its my wisdom that makes you think I'm older?? :)

This meeting will be in September, it was being promoted by the circuit commentary team at the Shannon's Muscle Car Showdown at QR on the weekend.

Entry form & event details are out. See attached.

Remember the Licence requirements for AASA. They will accept a full CAMS lic but you need to pay for a AASA basic sprint Lic to get the Insurance cover. This can be done at the track on the Friday.. I think its $60 for a year or $25 for the weekend, but check with QR.
There are 120 carports so everyone will be under cover however I don’t think the garages aren't available as they have stuff in them. There are a lot of different events on the bill....also 95 decibal noise limit is measured at the event!

For those planning to enter can you contact me via phone or email so I can co-ordinate entrants and carports.

Thanks, Nev

Chris, according to the email from the HRCC last night this event has been cancelled and a separate event will be held 18 October. Wasn't there enough entries?

John, The HRCC have cancelled their Historic clubbie at Morgan Park because it clashes with the Classic Lakeside meeting. As far as i know, Classic Lakeside is still on. They were advertising it at QR on Saturday.

It's on and I'm looking forward to debuting the Tokico RX7 and myself there too. We are going to dust off KB and the Ch 9 Camaro too... Methinks 95 DBA just went out the window!!

I love that old track and I honestly thought I would never get a chance to race there, period. I'm really pleased they are putting on a historic meet, at an historic venue. We don't have that many left!

C'mon guys, any late Gp C/Gp A entries will be accepted I'm sure :)

I thought the racing was excellent, very close and competitive, but clean and the Group A field made up in quality what it lacked in quantity. Well done Chris for helping to put it together and congratulations on a very sucessful debut.

Awwww shucks. The real thanks have to go to John Tetley from QLD Raceway/ Lakeside and Phil "Hollywood" Ross from Shannons. Plus Sid Sazewski (Spelling??) and Tony Basili for making such an AWESOME circuit way back in the day. I had too much fun and the Mazda was great. Can't wait to get the right wheels on it though... We're planning to bring a fleet of group C and A cars next year. I hope a few more QLD and Southern cars can make it too?
PS. BYO Muffler though.

i thought Chris's rx7 would be a little louder. is that due to the noise restrictions of lakeside?

what kind of exhaust system / mufflers you running on the rx7 Chris.

Hi Mate,

It's a custom system, made to lessen the "Blap Blap" that kind of shits you after a while (It is starting to grow on me though:)). Think of two HUGE mufflers and you're starting to get there. It's just serendipity that Lakeside then puts the stopppers on excessively noisy cars.

Yes, David had a hassle, but other than that, I think everyone else had a blast? Sure, Godzilla got a sore snout, but it was only very minor. Wasn't a good weekend for Nissan's! But the boys hung about offering support... We kind of reversed roles, didn't we Terry :)??

hey guys,

I was just wondering. my dad Wayne clift runs the deluxe coach lines Group A VK commodore and we were down at warrick the other weekend, running in sports sedans cos of the lack of g A/C cars. Anyway we were running these useless old kuhmos and were lapping 1:12.5 . So we tried chucking on an old pair of wet tyres that are 25 years old and he raced them at bathurst and haven't been used since. Although we were lapping 1 second quicker, do you know why?.

New wet tryes are much softer than new slicks, so perhaps very old wets are still softer than old slicks..................

They must be.. it was very strange we were all ready for a drift and burn session but we were wrong. those sports sedans were quick though. wow!
